Baby Kenna

Ashley and Mike had their maternity session with me about a month ago and was so excited for them to have their first child. Finally, they welcomed a beautiful baby girl, Kenna, into the world. Just two weeks later, she asked me to shoot Kenna's newborn photos and, naturally, I was thrilled! It was so beautiful to see them as new parents, learning about Kenna and holding her with such amazement. Even though she was a little fussy, what can you expect at 2 weeks old!? And really, did it matter? I think she still looks like a little angel :-)

Baby Stella

Newborns are a different kind of subject. One might think, "oh well they can't move so they must be pretty easy to shoot, right?" Wrong. What is easy however, is for a baby to go from looking like a soft, angelic bundle of joy in a photo to looking like a the pile of clothes you left in the dryer for 2 days or a rotting potato. You may say, "that's crazy," but I assure you, with no control of their bodily functions, that happy smile can turn into wrinkly and red chaos amidst flailing limbs and piercing cries in a matter of seconds.

Luckily, this was not the case with adorable baby Stella! At just 5 days old, Stella was hungry and wide awake; I think she may have been aware she was the center of attention! That may not happen much in the future with 2 older siblings before her, but on this day, siblings Carson and Savannah could not be more excited about sharing the newest addition in their family. We were able to catch some sweet moments between the 3 of them when Carson started sharing jokes with Stella and her beautiful blue eyes were the highlight of each shot. Congratulations to a wonderful family on their growing family and I am so glad I was able to help you capture all her tiny features in the first few days of her long life ahead :-)

Tyler & Ashley

This young couple met back on the mainland when fate brought them together after Tyler's return from deployment in Afghanistan. Home for leave, he went to visit friends in Wisconsin, never imagining he would meet his future wife! That was a year ago and now they are able to say they are happily married and adjusting to their new lives together in Hawaii. Their fun, playful personalities were evident throughout, as was their love! We thought we hit a roadblock at one point when it started to rain in the middle of shooting. Just as we started walking to cover though, unsurprisingly in Hawaii, the rain ceased and we turned to see a full, bright rainbow stretching from one side of the beach to the other. It only lasted about 30 seconds, but that was enough to pose for a quick pic and I'm so glad we did because it's one of my favorites! We closed with clear skies and a beautiful sunset starting to sink behind the mountains. Thanks to Tyler and Ashley for a really fun shoot and for letting me experiment and get creative! Some things worked, some didn't, but hey, if my clients are willing to indulge my crazy ideas, sometimes they turn out being pretty cool :)
